Governor Noem announced Monday 02.06.20 that schools in South Dakota are to remain closed through the rest of the school year and to continue with at home learning. Even though we absolutely understand the rationale and reasons, we are also heavy-hearted because our students will not return to our buildings and school activities have ended for the year. We will work diligently for all of our students and families in each area of a child’s education. Our hearts go out especially to our graduating class of 2020. We will do all we can for graduation to learn what options exist and we will solicit input from our seniors and their families. Our district wishes we had definitive answers on so many things, but, like everyone, we do not know what the coming weeks and months will mean for our state and nation in terms of the pandemic and social distancing. Now that we know our students are not returning to our buildings, we will develop plans for the rest of the school year and share that information as soon as we can. Our number one absolute priority is to keep our Dakota Valley student, families, staff and community safe.
