I have been teaching early childhood special education at Dakota Valley since 2006. I graduated from The University of South Dakota with degrees in elementary education and special education, and received my Master's Degree from Southwest Minnesota University.
As the early childhood special education (ECSE) teacher, I get to work with children ages three through five in my preschool classroom here at DVE, and also get to work with children under the age of three in their homes through South Dakota's Birth Through Three Connections Program.
If you have any questions about early childhood special education or early intervention services at Dakota Valley, feel free to call or e-mail me. In addition, every fall Dakota Valley has an Early Childhood Screening Day, where families can bring their young children in to be assessed in the areas of communication skills, motor skills, and understanding of general concepts. This is a great opportunity to find out if your child is meeting the appropriate developmental milestones, and to get ideas of things you can work on at home.
