Welcome to Dakota Valley High School Art!!
I am Mrs. Harlan and I teach Art here at DVHS. I have my masters in Art Education with an emphasis in classroom management from the University of Kearney and received my undergrad from Wayne State College. I have three daughters and am married to my high school sweetheart. We love being part of the Dakota Valley community and live in the area.
The art classes offered at DVHS are: Art I-IV as well as 3D Design I and II. There is a wide range of talent and ability in the arts and I hope that while my students are in an art class, they are developing not only those talents and abilities but are also developing character. Art is a great way to build self-esteem, patience, and respect. I strive to create a friendly environment in the classroom where everybody feels accepted and welcomed. We do a lot of collaboration of ideas and thought processes in the classroom.
It is amazing what students can create when given guidance and material to work with.
Make sure to visit the display cases located in the Panter Perch (at the top of the main staircase). The artwork is updated nearly every 3 weeks as students transition through the various projects. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
